Preserve, Protect & Promote Basenjis

The Basenji is one of the ancient breeds of dog. It is often referred to as “The Barkless Dog” of Africa. A truly remarkable dog – the Basenji is not mute, for they make many interesting vocalisations and are good-humoured.

The Basenji Hound Association of Queensland (BHAQ) formed over 20 years ago to preserve, protect and promote the Basenji breed. We assist and support Basenji owners through our newsletter and social meetings. We also operate a rescue for re-housing Basenjis. Our Club meets at least 5 times each year in Brisbane and surrounds holding Club meetings or events such as Lure Coursing. BHAQ is an unaffiliated Social Club of the Canine Control Council Queensland (CCCQ).

The BHAQ Club Constitution is available here.
